After the long journey, a hand held out at the airport and a charming hotel to catch your breath. This first evening has one aim: to ease you gently into the Malagasy rhythm.
Day2ANTANANARIVO → AMPEFY
The red hills open onto the volcanic region of Itasy. The Lily waterfalls, a peaceful lake, villages by the water: a quiet dinner closes this first day of discovery.
Day3AMPEFY → FARATSIHO → ANTSIRABE
Through Faratsiho the road climbs and winds between terraced rice fields and earthen hamlets. You stop wherever the light and rural life call for it, all the way to Antsirabe.
Day4ANTSIRABE → AMBOSITRA
In Antsirabe, workshops turn simple materials into meticulous objects. Then the road leads to Ambositra, capital of woodcarving, where you settle in for two nights.
Day5AMBOSITRA · MEETING CRAFTSPEOPLE
A whole day with the craftspeople of Ambositra. You watch the gestures, understand the patterns, listen to how the skill is handed down. An encounter that takes the time to be real.
Day6AMBOSITRA → RANOMAFANA
The Highlands slope towards the East, the air turns humid and the vegetation thickens. Arrival late in the day in Ranomafana, where the rainforest wraps around the lodge.
Day7RANOMAFANA · NATIONAL PARK
With a specialist guide you follow the park's trails: lemurs in the treetops, shy birds, motionless chameleons. The forest reveals itself to those who walk slowly.
Day8RANOMAFANA → FIANARANTSOA
In the old town of Fianarantsoa, lanes, churches and balconied houses tell of another era. In the evening, a Malagasy culinary experience lets you taste history differently.
Day9FIANARANTSOA → AMBALAVAO
At the foot of great granite rocks, the Anja community reserve protects its ring-tailed lemurs. In Ambalavao, local crafts round off this day between nature and community.
Day10AMBALAVAO → ISALO
The plains of the South stretch as far as the eye can see, almost without end. Then, in the distance, the sandstone relief of Isalo takes shape: a whole new landscape begins.
Day11ISALO · GUIDED HIKE
The trails drop into the canyons, follow ochre walls and lead to natural pools. A guided hike of a few hours, adapted to your pace.
Day12ISALO
A gentler day: a cultural encounter, an optional walk, then sunset over the massif. In Isalo, the evening light is often enough to fill a day.
Day13ISALO → TOLIARA
The road runs down to the coast through a dry, luminous South-West, with stops chosen according to conditions. In Toliara, the smell of the sea announces the next chapter.
Day14TOLIARA → ANAKAO
A boat crossing, then white sand and turquoise water. Your eco-lodge awaits you facing the ocean: four nights to change tempo completely.
Day15ANAKAO · VEZO CULTURE
Outrigger canoes set off at daybreak. An encounter with Vezo seafaring culture helps you understand the close, everyday bond between the people and the sea.
Day16ANAKAO
Snorkelling, a gentle excursion or, depending on the season and conditions, humpback whale watching: the lagoon is discovered from above and below.
Day17ANAKAO · FREE DAY
The beach, silence, a book, a stroll or simply the horizon. No programme: that is the point. Memories need this day to find their place.
Day18ANAKAO → TOLIARA → ANTANANARIVO
Back by sea to Toliara, then a domestic flight to the capital according to confirmed schedules. The lagoon slips away, but you take a little of its slowness with you.
Day19ANTANANARIVO · DEPARTURE
From the Highlands to the lagoon, the story is complete. You close the notebook, but some pages will stay open for a long time. Transfer to the international airport, with the quiet promise of a next chapter.
The rest of the story is yours.
